Spring Is Here: Don’t Forget About Your HVAC System!
Posted On: April 6, 2021
With the weather warming in Richmond and summer approaching, now is a great time for homeowners to have their air conditioning system serviced to prepare for the summer heat. By taking some easy preventive steps now, like cleaning and servicing your system, you can avoid bigger problems that would affect your comfort this summer when the temperatures rise!
Before you call Short Pump Heating & Air to schedule your preventive maintenance visit, there are a few things you can do to help your system run as efficiently as possible.
Open the windows: Open the windows on the next mild day and circulate some fresh air into your home. Knock out some spring cleaning, including cleaning vents and sucking up excess dust that clogs your breathing air and HVAC vents.
Turn on the AC system: Chances are you’ve had your AC off for most of the winter months. Be sure that you test the system to find out now if there are any issues that need to be addressed and ensure the AC is running properly.
Change the filters: Many homeowners forget to do this, and it can really impact your system’s ability to run efficiently, as well as circulate clean air for you and your family to breathe. Short Pump Heating & Air technicians will change out filters on routine service visits, or you can change them yourself, typically every three months (depending on the filter you have).
Clear the area around the outdoor unit: Make sure you remove any leaves, debris, or dirt around the outdoor unit. Keep the system well landscaped and maintained to ensure outside elements don’t affect its ability to run properly.
Once you’ve done these small preventive steps, give Short Pump Heating & Air a call at 804-364-9040 to perform an annual clean and preventive maintenance. We will be sure your system is ready to go for the summer heat!
